Värnamo Ends Losing Streak with First Allsvenskan Point Against Gais

Seven straight defeats and the worst ever – but that had to be enough. After 1–1 against Gais, Värnamo has now taken their first point of the season. It was exactly what we needed, says Värnamo's Simon Thern.

Värnamo has got the worst possible start to the Allsvenskan season. Loss after loss has made the team have to put up with both the one and the other, and before the previous match, the club chose to fire the trainers.

Not even that had any effect, but it became another loss and Värnamo was thus the first team ever in Allsvenskan to stand on zero points after seven rounds.

But finally the zero is broken.

Away against Gais, who in turn has started the season shakily, the team finally managed to collect its first point when Johnbosco Kalu scored the equalizer to 1–1 in the second half.

Gais did what they could to try to prolong Värnamo's heavy streak, but without success.

It was exactly what we needed. To somehow find a way to get into this series and build on it. It's clear that breaking this zero was extremely important and much needed going forward, says Simon Thern to Max.

However, there will be no further step up the table for the Smålanders. The team is, unsurprisingly, still at the bottom of the Allsvenskan table.

In parallel, Sirius team could, on the other hand, climb away from the negative qualifying spot in the table. The team took the season's second win when they defeated Häcken 2–0 at home. The scorers were Robbie Ure and Leo Walta.
