The Ukrainian region of Zaporizhzhia has requested fishing nets that can be used, for example, to protect critical infrastructure and places where people gather.
"Solidarity does not always have to be complicated. Sometimes it’s about seeing what you can actually contribute. A fishing net from Värmland can be a vital help to people in Ukraine," says Linn Ekholm, Director of Defence at the County Administrative Board (the county-level government authority), in a press release.
The collection will take place from October 9 to 23. Instructions are available on the County Administrative Board’s website.
Fishing nets collected by fishermen in Österlen, among other places, have previously been sent to Ukraine.
