The United States continues to insist that it "needs" Greenland to protect itself. And President Donald Trump will do what is necessary to secure his country, Vance told Fox News.
"We want to ensure that we protect US interests," he says.
According to Vance, Greenland would be central if another country were to send nuclear weapons against the United States.
Greenland is critical when it comes to missile defense. If we ask ourselves - have the Europeans and the Danes done a good job of securing Greenland and ensuring that it can continue to serve as an anchor for world security and missile defense? The answer is clearly no.
The United States is grateful for Denmark's efforts as a US ally during World War II and the war on terror, says Vance. But that is not enough.
Just because you did something good 25 years ago, doesn't mean you can't do something stupid now.
