In an interview with podcast host Joe Rogan, Vance accuses several ministers in the Israeli government of trying to influence and "manipulate" American opinion about the Iran war, the Reuters news agency reports on its website.

Vance has pushed for an end to the war. He has been the face of negotiations with the regime in Tehran and continues to defend the line of a diplomatic settlement with Iran over the Strait of Hormuz and the country's nuclear energy program.

"There have undoubtedly been people within the Israeli government who are trying, as it were, de facto to get us to abandon that policy because they want to continue the military campaign indefinitely," Vance said.

What bothers me is when these campaigns actually influence American political judgment.

Vance's stance goes against Israel's.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz on Thursday emphasized Israel's need to remain militarily present in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza until Iranian-backed militias no longer pose a threat.

In the peace negotiations, Iran has demanded that Israel leave Lebanon and end the offensive against Hezbollah.

On Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said he will no longer travel to the United States after the funeral of the late Senator Lindsey Graham was postponed. No formal meeting with President Donald Trump was scheduled - but Netanyahu has said he looked forward to meeting Trump.
