The Left Party is calling for a crisis commission after the alarms about shortcomings in home care. It is a care for the elderly in total disarray, says Nadja Awad, spokesperson for care for the elderly.

The Left Party is reacting to SVT's review showing that 12 people died due to shortcomings in home care among the 190 Lex Sarah cases that the Inspectorate for Health and Social Care, IVO, concluded in 2024.

V-leader Nooshi Dadgostar stated at a press conference that a crisis commission needs to look at, among other things, the allocation of resources to elderly care, the competence of the staff and the "minute management" of home care staff.

Nadja Awad calls it inhumane that a certain number of minutes are set aside for elderly people who need home care.

Care should be based on trust, not a stopwatch, she says.
