The US government announces new military aid to Ukraine of 988 million dollars, equivalent to 10.8 billion kronor. The decision is made in Washington DC in an attempt to provide as much support as possible to Ukraine before the US's future president Donald Trump takes office.
The latest aid package includes drones, ammunition for the air defense system Himars, and spare parts for tanks, armored vehicles, and artillery systems.
Unlike several previous aid shipments, the latest package of materials will not be retrieved from the US military's stockpile. Instead, the products are ordered from the defense industry, which prolongs the delivery time.
Just over a week ago, the Pentagon announced an aid shipment of 725 million dollars. Then, the US decided to send additional landmines, among other things, anti-tank missiles to Ukraine.
