The US Department of Finance announced on Thursday that sanctions are being imposed on the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan.
The notification from the Department of Finance – which is responsible for similar sanctions – came after President Donald Trump signed a decree on February 6 to put Khan on the sanctions list. The British citizen Khan is behind the request that led to the ICC issuing an international arrest warrant for Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and deceased leaders within the terrorist-stamped Hamas.
In his decree, Trump accused the ICC of "illegitimate and baseless attacks" against Israel and the US. None of the leaders of the countries have ratified the ICC.
