A high-ranking IS member, Usamah Jamal Muhammad Ibrahim al-Janabi, has been killed in an air strike in Syria, writes the US military command for the Middle East, Centcom, on X.
"His death will disrupt IS's ability to acquire resources and carry out terrorist attacks", the military command announces.
According to the US, there are no signs that civilians were injured in the air strike, which was carried out on Sunday.
Centcom will, together with allies and partners in the region, continue to carry out operations to degrade the terrorist organisation IS's operational capability and ensure its lasting defeat, it further states in the post.
