The American team was met with massive booing when it played its opening match in the World Championship in hockey against Denmark in Danish Herning.

It's not something you like. It's really disrespectful, honestly, says American forward Cutter Gauthier to Expressen after the 5–0 win.

Already during the Four Nations tournament in Canada in February, the booing was noticed. Then, the US president had just decided on tariffs against Canada and even hinted that Canada should be the 51st state of the US – something that wasn't appreciated by the audience.

Now the booing is repeated in Denmark – a country that Trump called "a bad ally" and where he threatened to militarily take over.

The booing started when the players came onto the ice and continued when the players were presented and even after the match during the American national anthem.
