Tensions between Denmark and the United States have escalated since Donald Trump said the United States should have control of Greenland. There was also tension ahead of the teams' meeting in the men's Olympic ice hockey match - which the United States ultimately won 6-3.

Denmark got off to a dream start against the USA when Nick Olesen scored to make it 1–0 in the second minute of the match. However, the USA quickly equalized, and it was in the second period that the team really stepped up and scored three goals.

However, the USA had to fight to win the game, with the final goal coming around 15 minutes into the third period to make it 6–3.

This is the USA's second victory in the games; earlier the team beat Latvia 5–1.
