The information about a meeting in Norway's capital comes from the American media company Axios, referring to sources with insight into the process.
According to the sources, the USA will be represented by the envoy Steve Witkoff and Iran by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
The talks would thus be resumed after the war between Israel and Iran. Planned talks in Qatar were cancelled after the outbreak of war and the US air raids against Iranian nuclear facilities.
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi simultaneously marked on Thursday that the country stands firm on the so-called non-proliferation treaty NPT regarding countries' access to nuclear weapons.
The statement on the X platform comes after criticism that Tehran temporarily suspends cooperation with the UN's atomic energy agency IAEA. IAEA has demanded to get access to Iran's nuclear facilities as soon as possible to inspect them.
"Iran remains committed to NPT and agreements on how it should be protected", writes Araghchi.
Neither Iran nor the USA has officially confirmed a new meeting in Oslo, according to Axios. No date has been set, according to the sources that the media company refers to.
