In his speech, Pezeshkian did not want to admit to any Iranian mistakes; instead, he attacked the US and Israel.
We are victims of terrorism, he said, claiming that Iran has never started any wars.
They forced war on us, but we have proven that we are not afraid of battle.
Neither the US nor the Israeli delegations listened to the speech in the hall. The Israeli chairs were empty when the speech began, and the Americans who were still there demonstratively walked out during the speech.
The speech contradicts Donald Trump's statements from the last 24 hours that talks between the countries taking place behind the scenes at the UN General Assembly in New York have been "very good" and "very productive."
Instead, Pezeshkian said:
(Trump) must understand that the resistance of the Iranian people only increases when faced with sanctions, increased pressure, increased bullying.
