Terror-labeled Hamas must speed up the return of the remains of the dead Israeli hostages still in Gaza, wrote US President Donald Trump in a post on Truth Social on Saturday evening:
"Hamas will need to return the deceased hostages, including two Americans, promptly, otherwise the countries that have contributed to this fantastic peace will take action".
Quick Visit
The post was made in connection with Trump making a quick visit to Qatar, where he, among other things, met with Qatar's Emir Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani for talks on the situation in the conflict region.
In parallel, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio pressured the parties to the conflict. During a flight between Israel and Qatar, Rubio said he does not see a future permanent division of Gaza, despite the Israeli military still controlling extensive areas on the Gaza Strip.
"Do not want to occupy"
According to the ceasefire plan mediated by the US, the Israeli military is to withdraw behind a so-called yellow line, which in practice means that Israeli forces control almost half of Gaza's territory. These are the same areas that the US wants to see receive support for reconstruction.
Rubio said at a press conference on board the plane that he wants to see a demilitarized Gaza, where an international force will stand as a guarantee for peace throughout the territory.
I believe that the stabilization force's goal is to move (the yellow line) so that the force controls all of Gaza - and that Gaza would thus be demilitarized, said Rubio and continued:
This is our long-term plan. The Israelis have clearly stated that they have no interest in occupying Gaza.
