Danish investments in US government securities, as well as Denmark itself, are "irrelevant," the US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said during a press conference at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

After the Danish pension fund Akademikerpension announced that it would sell its entire holdings in US government bonds, the US Treasury Secretary said he was not worried and that it was only $100 million.

"They have been selling government bonds for years. I am not worried in the least," he said.

During the press conference, he also urged Europeans not to act in anger but instead to listen to US President Donald Trump when he arrives in Davos.

"Why don't they sit down, wait for President Trump to come here and listen to his arguments?" he said, according to the AFP news agency.
