The European Parliament is set to vote on the deal on Thursday, which in principle would mean 15 percent import duties on almost all EU goods exported to the US. US Ambassador Andrew Puzder warns of the consequences of a "no."

"I don't know what's going to happen in terms of energy if they don't go ahead with the deal. I think the US wants to continue doing business with Europe, but the terms may not be as favorable. And there are other buyers out there," Puzder told the Financial Times.

The EU's green light for the deal has been significantly delayed, not least after President Donald Trump's demand to take over Greenland and various US tariff moves.
