The comment comes after President Donald Trump announced that Venezuela's interim government had agreed to send up to 50 million barrels of oil to the United States.
"We will market the crude oil that comes from Venezuela, first this reserve and then continue indefinitely. Going forward, we will sell Venezuela's production to the market," Chris Wright said at a Goldman Sachs event in Miami on Wednesday.
This weekend, US special forces captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife in a raid. The country is currently ruled by Vice President Delcy Rodríguez.
