US temporarily eases sanctions on Russian oil to allow sale to India

The exemption is valid until April 3 and, according to U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, is intended to allow "oil to continue flowing" on the global market.

Bessent said it will not make a major economic difference to the Russian government, as it only applies to oil that is already at sea.
