U.S. temporarily eases sanctions on Russian oil

The temporary relief applies to oil products loaded onto ships before midnight on March 12 until April 11.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent argues that the measure will not provide Russia with any significant economic gain.

“They get the majority of their energy revenue from taxes levied on extraction,” writes Bessent on X.

A similar decision was made a week ago to give India the opportunity to buy Russian oil already offshore.
