Including the latest attack, a total of 231 people have been killed in the US's 69 attacks on boats in the eastern Pacific and Caribbean Sea since last year, according to the AP news agency.
The repeated attacks have drawn sharp criticism from several quarters, not least because no evidence has been presented that the boats have actually been used for drug smuggling.
