Fed announced simultaneous changes in the system with government bonds, which is expected to lead to the rates on ten-year bonds being held down. This benefits the stock market.
Among the winners were index-heavy chip giant Nvidia, up 1.8 percent. Electric car manufacturer Tesla, which had fallen for two days in a row, now rose 4.7 percent.
The Dow Jones industrial index rose 1.2 percent, the broad S&P 500 index 1.4 percent, and the technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index 1.8 percent.
