US shutdown costs $143 billion a week

The US's record shutdown is estimated to cost $15 billion a week, equivalent to around 143 billion Swedish kronor, writes Bloomberg.

The US government shutdown entered its 36th day on Wednesday, breaking the previous record from 2019, which was 35 days during Donald Trump's first term.

According to a compilation of economists' calculations by Bloomberg, the costs per week are estimated to be between $10 billion and $30 billion. Several analysts estimate the cost at $15 billion.
