The Trump administration has previously proposed - and to some extent implemented - so-called relocations of undocumented migrants to third countries such as Uganda, El Salvador and Rwanda, which has created debate.
Now the island nation of Palau - with a population of around 20,000 people - has also received its first migrant, following an agreement with the United States that was signed in December.
Palau is one of the least populous countries in the world.
