The Senate in the USA has approved the legal framework required for the government – with President Donald Trump at the helm – to be able to implement tax relief and extensive cuts in state operations. The decision came after several hours of negotiations that continued late into the night towards Saturday, local time.
51 senators voted in favor, while 48 voted against the proposal. The Democrats are opposed to the law change and the vote largely followed party lines.
In the next step, the House of Representatives will also address the issue.
