The second phase of the ceasefire involves the formation of a technocratic Palestinian transitional government in Gaza, and the beginning of complete demilitarization and reconstruction of the area, writes Witkoff on X.
"The United States expects Hamas to fully comply with its obligations, including the immediate return of the remains of the deceased hostage. Failure to do so will have serious consequences," Witkoff writes.
The first phase of the White House-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hamas took effect on October 10 last year. Since then, both sides have accused each other of repeated violations of the ceasefire.
