The attack is said to have been directed at, among others, the Justice Department, NASA, the Federal Reserve and the US Senate.
The Justice Department says it has seized domains used by the hacking platforms “QScan” and “QTRouter” in the attack. The US says the platforms are run by a state-sponsored Chinese group.
“State-sponsored malicious hackers who attack critical American infrastructure will be stopped and prosecuted,” Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a statement.
China has not commented on the allegations.
