US Sanctions Freeze on Russia to Last 60 Days, Rubio Says

The suspension of the new US sanctions package against Russia will last 60 days, Secretary of State Marco Rubio says. The aim is to “analyze” its potential impact on the global economy.

President Donald Trump's decision to end sanctions targeting Russian fuel exports was announced in an executive order on Friday. The announcement has drawn sharp criticism from senators and members of Congress, who approved the legislation in September.

Now Secretary of State Marco Rubio comments on the sanctions freeze

The president wants to use the 60-day period to, in a sense, analyze what impact the introduction of both sanctions and tariffs will have on the global and also the American economy, he tells reporters.
