The state-controlled Russian news agency Tass reports.
The talks between the USA and Russia began at a luxury hotel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia's capital, on Monday morning.
The US and Ukrainian delegations met at the same hotel on Sunday. Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umjerov described the talks as productive and said they addressed key issues, "including energy".
Details of Ceasefire
The plans for a ceasefire, at least at this stage, involve stopping attacks from or to the Black Sea.
From the Ukrainian side, there are reports that Ukraine is insisting on a broader ceasefire, which would also include attacks on power grids and other critical infrastructure on land.
After initial talks in Saudi Arabia a couple of weeks ago – following the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's tense visit to the White House in Washington – the USA and Ukraine agreed on a demand for a full and 30-day-long ceasefire.
Russia's President Vladimir Putin rejected this and instead proposed a ceasefire for attacks on energy facilities on both sides, in a situation where Ukraine is attacking critical oil facilities in Russia. For a full ceasefire, even a temporary one, he demands that support for and mobilization in Ukraine be halted.
On Wednesday, the countries said they had agreed on a partial ceasefire as a first step, but have since disagreed on what it would actually entail. The attacks have continued on both sides.
Grain on the Table
The negotiations are currently largely about the so-called Black Sea Initiative, an agreement reached a few months into the war in 2022. It allowed Ukraine to continue its important grain exports over the sea, but Russia withdrew from it after about a year.
US President Donald Trump's envoy Steven Witkoff said on Sunday that he had good hopes for progress and that a first ceasefire could develop into a full ceasefire.
