The Trump administration has withdrawn the visas for six people who, according to American authorities, made mocking comments or downplayed the murder of right-wing debater Charlie Kirk.

The US Department of State announced that they had come to the decision after reviewing their posts and video clips on social media about Kirk.

The individuals are from Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Mexico, Paraguay, and South Africa.

Charlie Kirk was shot to death over a month ago when he spoke to a crowd at a university in Utah. Kirk is generally considered to have driven the debate in the US further to the right and he was a devoted supporter of Donald Trump.

Among others, journalists, teachers, and military personnel in the US who have aired criticism of Kirk after his death have lost their jobs. The development has been described in the media as a form of "cancel culture" inspired by the Trump administration.
