The handover took place late Wednesday during a meeting between FBI Director Kash Patel and President Prabowo Subianto at his residence in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.

The objects, which include items belonging to the Dani and Asmat peoples, were illegally smuggled into the United States via international antiquities networks, the US Embassy in Jakarta said in a statement.

The cultural artifacts - including ceremonial objects and stone axe heads - will now be exhibited at Indonesia's National Museum, AP reports.
