US retail sales increase unexpectedly in November

Retail sales in the U.S. increased by 0.6 percent in November compared to the previous month, according to the U.S. Commerce Department.

It was higher than expected.

Analysts had expected a 0.5 percent increase on average, according to a Bloomberg survey.

Excluding vehicles and fuel, retail sales in the US increased by 0.4 percent in November, compared to the expected increase of 0.3 percent.

In October, retail sales in the US decreased by 0.1 percent, according to revised figures. Previously, they had been reported as unchanged from the previous month.
