The planet is valued at hundreds of millions of dollars, and the offer has raised constitutional and ethical questions. The security aspect has also been highlighted, as it means that an airplane given as a gift by another country will be used as a presidential plane.
According to the Pentagon, it has been received "in accordance with all federal rules and laws". The Defense Department is said to be working on taking security measures.
The US Constitution prohibits government officials from accepting gifts "from any king, prince or foreign state". Trump has, however, denied that there are ethical question marks surrounding the acceptance of the airplane, and said that it would be foolish not to do so.
I would never turn down such an offer. I could be a foolish person (and) say 'no, we don't want a free, very expensive airplane', said the president last week.
