There were fewer new jobs than expected. Analysts had expected an average of 120,000 new private-sector jobs in the U.S. in April, according to Bloomberg.
The ADP report comes ahead of Friday's major U.S. monthly jobs figure, the Nonfarm Payrolls report from the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
