"The conversation was fruitful and helped identify areas that should be further investigated ahead of the United States' next meeting with Russia," US envoy Steve Witkoff said in a statement on X.
The meeting, which took place in Miami, dealt with energy security, grain exports, security guarantees and “long-term agreements for the security of Ukraine and Europe in order to prevent future conflicts,” according to Witkoff.
Sources told AFP that US negotiators are trying to develop new proposals to achieve a breakthrough in the negotiations before winter. Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner visited both Ukraine and Russia for talks as recently as September.
