The US military is developing various alternative plans for how to attack drug smugglers inside Venezuela, according to several sources for NBC.

According to NBC's sources, the attacks in Venezuela can begin in just a few weeks.

American raids within Venezuela's borders would be a further escalation of the Trump administration's campaign against alleged narcotics targets and its stance towards Venezuela's government.

In recent weeks, the American military has attacked ships that have departed from Venezuela on their way to the USA, with presumed narcotics on board.

The USA has not presented any evidence that the attacked ships actually had drugs on board. But an official in the Dominican Republic, together with an official from the American embassy there, stated at a press conference on Sunday that drugs had been found in the water after an attack.
