USA's military has carried out another attack on a boat they claim was used for smuggling narcotics.

This is announced by Minister of Defence Pete Hegseth, who states that two people have been killed in the attack.

The attack, the eighth of its kind in recent months, took place in the eastern Pacific Ocean. The previous seven attacks have been directed against boats in the Caribbean Sea.

In total, at least 34 people have been killed.

The attacks have mainly been carried out off the coast of Venezuela and are described by the US as combating narcotics smuggling.

At the same time, President Donald Trump recently gave the intelligence agency CIA the go-ahead to carry out secret operations inside Venezuela.

The decision means a sharp escalation in terms of the US's attempts to put pressure on Venezuela's President Nícolás Maduro.
