4.2 million dollars (approximately 42 million kronor) will be paid out to the winner of this year's first major, where the total prize money amounts to 21 million dollars (around 210 million kronor).
Ludvig Åberg shared 12th place when Saturday's third round began, five strokes behind leader Justin Rose.
Last year, the US Open major had the largest prize money, with 4.3 million dollars paid out to winner Bryson DeChambeau.
