The latest wave of US strikes began on Thursday evening and continued overnight. It is described by the military command Centcom as the sixth in a row, intended to “further degrade Iranian military capabilities.”

Explosions were heard in several places in Iran during the evening and night, including around the large port city of Bandar Abbas, in Bushehr, Ahvaz and on the island of Qeshm in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian state and regime-loyal news agencies.

The attacks have hit, among other things, a railway station, several bridges and an airport, according to Fars and Tasnim.

Iran has, as on previous nights, responded with attacks on American targets in countries in the Middle East. So far, Kuwait and Bahrain have reported being attacked. Journalists from the AFP news agency are reporting explosions in Qatar.

According to Iranian state media, the attacks in Bahrain targeted US helicopters and aircraft at a base in the country. The attacks were described as “in response to the enemy’s hostile actions against infrastructure and innocent people.”

The US has since reimposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports, and US Marines boarded a ship in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday. In addition, three merchant ships have been turned away and one has been "decommissioned," the military command Centcom said on X.
