The Congo-Kinshasa national football team, which is set to play in the World Cup in less than a month, is exempt from the infection-control restrictions US authorities have set for non-US citizens in connection with the Ebola outbreak in several African countries.
"We are working to bring them into the same isolation-testing framework as US citizens and permanent residents," an official with knowledge of the matter said, according to AFP.
Because of the Ebola outbreak, US authorities have barred non-US citizens from traveling to the country if they have been in, among other places, Congo-Kinshasa in the past 21 days.
The exception will not apply to fans.
