According to the US military command Centcom, the attacks are aimed at military targets "to degrade Iran's ability to threaten civilian mariners and commercial vessels passing through regional waters."
The United States and Iran have exchanged nightly attacks in the Persian Gulf region for the past two weeks. Iran has repeatedly targeted American bases in the region, including on Thursday night.
"Kuwait's air defenses are currently responding to threats from hostile drones," the country's military wrote on X.
