"The attacks are a powerful response to yesterday's attempted Iranian attacks on US forces stationed in the Middle East," Centcom writes.

President Donald Trump has threatened to "strike hard" against Iran after attacks on American targets in Jordan.

Jordan's military said in a statement that its air defences had shot down five missiles from Iran.

During the night, explosions were heard in several places in Iran, including the cities of Abadan, Bandar Abbas, Bushehr and on the island of Qeshm. Three people from the same family were killed on Qeshm, according to the state-run Iranian news agency Fars.

At least two people have been injured in the attacks, Al Jazeera reports, citing Iranian regime-linked media.

Centcom states that the attacks were directed at military targets belonging to the Revolutionary Guard.

In Kuwait, the Ministry of Defense states that an employee has been killed in an Iranian attack on a building belonging to a Chinese company in the northern part of the country.

The US carried out attacks on Iran for 13 consecutive nights earlier in July. Pakistan said on Thursday that negotiations between the US and Iran are continuing.

“Negotiations between the parties are ongoing, especially on the Strait of Hormuz and to de-escalate,” Tahir Andrabi, a spokesman for Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, told reporters in Islamabad.
