A federal judge in California in the USA has ordered the government of President Donald Trump to immediately stop making arbitrary checks and arrests of people suspected of staying illegally in the country.

The decision applies to seven California counties and comes after human rights organizations have filed lawsuits. The government is accused of systematically engaging in racial profiling through the migration authority ICE and targeting people of a certain skin color during their raids in southern California.

The lawsuits involve three detained migrants and two American citizens who were taken into custody despite showing identification.

The judge's decision is temporary while the legal process is underway.
