Burgum met with Venezuela's interim leader Delcy Rodríguez, who was vice president under Maduro and has assumed the presidency in a transitional government.
Among other things, they discussed mining and rare earth metals. After the meeting, Burgum said that the potential for cooperation and synergy between the countries is “limitless.”
Venezuela is a rich country, filled with both oil and gas resources and also rich in important minerals, he said.
As Minister of the Interior, Burgum is responsible, among other things, for natural resources in the United States and for the exploration of new resources there.
Maduro was overthrown in connection with a US military operation in January.
