“As a result of Operation Midnight Hammer in June 2025, Iran’s uranium enrichment capability was eliminated. There have been no attempts to rebuild the capability since then,” Gabbard said in a prepared written statement to the Senate Intelligence Committee.

But when Gabbard testified, she omitted those sentences, prompting Democratic Senator Mark Warner to ask whether it was because Trump had said there was an urgent threat.

"No, I realized I was running out of time and skipped a few lines," Gabbard replied.

"You skipped the very parts that contradicted the president," Warner replied, according to NBC News.

Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that Iran's nuclear program was completely destroyed by American bombings last summer.

However, Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff, has claimed that Iran still has highly enriched uranium that could be converted into nuclear weapons "in a week," and the initial attacks on Iran were described as a preemptive attack to prevent the country from developing nuclear weapons.

Joe Kent, director of the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), resigned on Tuesday over the war on Iran.

Iran posed "no immediate threat to our country, and it is clear that we started this war because of pressure from Israel and their powerful American lobbying," he wrote on X.
