Inflation in the USA according to the measure CPI – that is, the increase in consumer prices in annual rate – rose to 2.9 percent in August. This can be compared to 2.7 in July.
The so-called core inflation, where food and energy prices have been cleaned up, was at 3.1 in August compared to 3.1 in July.
Analysts had on average calculated that the CPI inflation would rise to 2.9 percent in August, while the core inflation would come in unchanged at 3.1 percent, according to a compilation of forecasts made by Bloomberg.
