"Today's strikes targeted ISIS in Syria as part of our commitment to eliminate Islamic terrorism against our soldiers, prevent future attacks, and protect U.S. forces and our partners in the region," Centcom wrote on X.
It was also claimed that the attacks were a response to an IS attack in Palmyra in December, in which two American soldiers and an interpreter were killed.
