On Monday, the country stepped up its efforts to hinder the work of the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio commented in a video statement:
“The ICC and its friends are waging a war against our country, not with bullets or missiles, but with statutes, treaties and the power of so-called international law.”
According to the US State Department, the aim of the campaign is to “systematically cripple the ICC’s ability to target US military personnel or officials, or otherwise threaten US sovereignty.”
The United States has previously imposed sanctions on several ICC judges.
