“The reality is that no country, no group of countries, has the capacity to secure Greenland without the United States,” Landry, who is also governor of Louisiana, writes in an op-ed in The New York Times.
Landry praises the framework for the island that Trump presented at the World Economic Forum last week and writes that it will strengthen the security of Greenland, NATO and the United States.
The details are being negotiated primarily with Denmark, but Landry writes it will pave the way for new bases and infrastructure, advanced missile defense systems such as the so-called Golden Dome, and for repelling hostile Chinese and Russian influence.
