US Embassy warns of credible threat of deadly attack at Moscow park

The US Embassy in Moscow is warning that a deadly attack could take place in a park in the Russian capital on Saturday.

The embassy writes on its website that there is a “credible threat” to Tsaritsyno, an open-air museum and park in southern Moscow.

“The US government is cooperating with Russian authorities,” the embassy’s website also states.

The US urges citizens to stay away from the area, remain alert, make sure their mobile phones are charged and follow local media for updates. It is unclear who or what is behind the planned attack.

Russia’s Federal Security Service, the FSB, “has acted on an American warning regarding preparations for a terrorist attack in Moscow,” an FSB spokesperson told the state-controlled Tass news agency.

The US has previously warned Russia of planned attacks, including in March 2024, just weeks before an attack on a Moscow concert venue in which 139 people were killed. The terrorist group IS claimed responsibility shortly after the attack.
