"With this information, we are putting another investigation into historical shortcomings behind us," said Tomas Hedberg, deputy CEO of Swedbank, in the press release.
In 2019, several investigations were opened in the US into Swedbank's failure to handle suspected money laundering in its Baltic operations in accordance with applicable regulations.
Swedbank is still under investigation by the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS). It is unclear when that review will be completed.
