USA's president Donald Trump writes on social media that another attack on a ”narcotics boat” has taken place. Six people on board are said to have been killed in the attack.

The boat was located off the coast of Venezuela and was loaded with drugs, according to Trump. The Trump administration has made it clear that alleged drug smugglers will be treated as "illegal combatants" and thus also a valid target for deadly attacks.

According to the president, no Americans were injured.

This is the fifth attack on a vessel allegedly transporting narcotics to the US that has been carried out in the Caribbean Sea in one and a half months.

In connection with the attacks, Trump has stepped up the rhetoric against Venezuela's president Nicolas Maduro, whom Trump accuses of being involved in the drug smuggling to the US.

It is also off the coast of Venezuela that the attacks on the "narcotics boats" have taken place.

Trump says the attack took place in international waters and that there was "intelligence" that confirmed the boat had drugs on board.

US Defense Minister Pete Hegseth has published a video sequence showing the incident.
